Emily helps to keep the office running by covering everything from paying bills to bookkeeping. When she isn’t at work, she enjoys reading, running, writing, and spending time with Josh and their three kids.

Stephen enjoys outdoor activities, community service in local government, traveling with his wife and three children, and Christmas music. He excels at organizing and implementing processes to streamline projects, enhance company operations, and improve customer experiences.

Jon Van Veldhuizen

Project Manager

Jon comes to Hood Construction with a passion for woodworking. He served as our primary trim carpenter for several years before stepping into his current role as project manager. He enjoys developing relationships with customers and subcontractors as he leads new builds from the ground up. A transplant from Pennsylvania, Jon, his wife, and their three boys reside in Sterling.

Brice Knapp

Brice serves as our Field Operations Manager, overseeing day-to-day site activity and ensuring projects run smoothly. Brice is married to his wife Kyla and is the proud father of two sons. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, and working with horses.

Chris Hilgendorf

Shop Manager/Driver

In addition to managing our shop, Chris drives to pick up and drop off job materials, as well as filling in the gaps mowing properties and tracking our equipment maintenance schedule. He enjoys Chiefs football, KC Royals baseball, and spending time with his family.

Malachi Scott

Lead Painter

Originally from Topeka, Kansas, Malachi takes pride in delivering high-quality finishes and creating clean, lasting results for our clients. When he’s not on the job, he enjoys gaming, riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family.

Carson Gray

Carpenter

Carson, a Sterling native, is a full-time student-athlete at Sterling College, balancing academics, sports, and his role at Hood Construction. He enjoys basketball and video games. On the job, Carson takes on various tasks, from material handling to framing.

Garrett Fracchiolla

Carpenter

Garrett, from Temecula, CA, now in Sterling, is the second oldest of four siblings. He teaches art for a local homeschool co-op and enjoys creating. At work, he appreciates the opportunities to work with flooring and tile. Passionate, creative, and dedicated, he brings artistry to both his personal and professional life.

Armando Duran

Painter/Carpenter

Armando hails from Dallas, Texas. A recent graduate from Sterling College, Armando lives in Sterling with his wife, Ren, and son, Daniel. Armando loves the relationships he gets to build with the community and the team at Hood Construction. When not at work, Armando loves to spend time with his family, read, work out, and watch baseball games.

Ryan Stucky

Carpenter/Business Intern

From Sedgwick, KS, Ryan is in his last semester at Sterling College, graduating with a business degree in December. He loves being a part of the Hood Construction team and learning new skills to build his future. Ryan enjoys catching touchdowns for the SC Warriors and spending time with his wife, Ivy. They share a passion for disc golf, hiking, and playing with their two cats.

Chris Westbay

Carpenter

Chris comes to us from Washington State. A very skilled carpenter, Chris enjoys doing flooring and siding for Hood Construction. In his free time, Chris loves road trips with his family and also likes video games, building LEGO sets, guns, and hunting.

Shawn Bibbs

Carpenter

Shawn comes to Hood Construction by way of Hutchinson, KS, having spent time in Phoenix, AZ, before returning to the Hutchinson area. With years of construction experience—especially in framing, carpentry, and roofing—Shawn has the ability to craft beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces with ease. When not at work, Shawn enjoys spending time with his dogs, fishing, and woodworking.

Keaton Hawk

Carpenter

Residing in Hutchinson, KS, Keaton comes to Hood Construction with a passion for building decks and fences. He loves taking part in a vision for a project becoming reality. Watching football, going to the gym and spending time with his family are all things Keaton enjoys doing in his free time.

Caelen Schneider

Shop Hand/Carpenter

Originally from North Dakota, Caelen supports smooth day-to-day operations at Hood Construction. He takes pride in all the work he does: from systematically keeping the shop organized to efficiently loading and unloading materials. He also relishes the times when he is on job sites learning the skills of the trade. In his free time, Caelen enjoys spending time with God and lifting weights.

Valerie Reynoso

Office Manager

From Little River, Val loves bringing her skills in art and design to the Hood Construction team by creating signs, mailers, graphics, and managing social media accounts. Val and her husband, Nilo, live in Sterling with their pup Daisy. In her free time, Valerie works for King’s Cross Church and can frequently be found at Clive’s Coffee Shop and Bakery.
